Fluoride benefits
Fluoride in toothpastes helps strengthen teeth but too much can cause discolouration of the teeth. As fluoride is also added to some water supplies, it is important to check with a health visitor or dentist whether it is necessary to give supplements and how much to give.

If needed, supplements can start at about six months of age.

The European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry makes the following recommendations on baby and infant toothcare.

Age group
(years)
Fluoride concentration
(ppm)
Frequency
per day
Amount to be used
6 months - 2 years Low fluoride <500 once A smear on teeth and gums
2-6 years <500 twice A pea-sized, or small fingernail-sized
over 6 years 1000-1450 twice 1/3 - 1/2 toothbrush

Parents should always supervise tooth brushing in children below 6 years of age.

What is propolis
For over 2000 years mankind has benefited from the natural anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties of this waxy substance, which is produced by bees to sterilise and disinfect their hives. Rich in bio-flavonoids and vitamins, today Propolis is still widely used to help prevent and treat a variety of human disorders.

Babies' oral hygiene

It’s never too soon to start!
Even before the first tooth appears a baby’s mouth is exposed to bacteria – developing from food sugars and starches, from airborne particles or by direct transfer from mother to baby. These bacteria, if left unchecked, can affect the quality of erupting milk teeth.

Although nature provides its own protective mechanism – saliva –, until around the age of 1 year to 18 months the efficiency of a baby’s saliva is reduced. In fact, a child’s immune response to which saliva is directly related, does not reach its full strength until around the age of five.

To help safeguard future teeth, therefore, dentists recommend gentle cleaning of your baby’s tender gums and tiny teeth as soon as the first tooth starts to appear.

Our naturally-sourced molecules

COLOSTRUM EXTRACT contains a mixture of important protective factors which help protect health and vitality by activating our body’s natural protective mechanisms. In combination, these factors can help control disease-causing organisms throughout the body, including the mouth where they can help stop bacteria from attaching to the gums.

LACTOFERRIN is a protein that occurs naturally in breast milk, saliva and tears and in numerous othere sites throughout the body where it plays an important role in the primary defence system. In the mouth Lactoferrin helps maintain the mouth’s natural eco-system.

LACTOPEROXIDASE is an enzyme which forms part of the body’s natural defence system. Occurring in secretions such as saliva, tears, and breast milk, it protects against harmful bacteria. In the mouth, the function of the Lactoperoxidase System is to maintain a balanced, healthy oral environment.
